| Power of prayersFrom: Rene - 2 Comments
I was either living with Mum at Uncle Peter's
or spending the week-end there. It was in the middle of the night when I aroused
from my sleep in the room next to Grandma and Grandpa's (upstairs). I think it
was Agnes who woke me. When I had rubbed the sleep from my eyes I could see that
everyone was very solemn and serious. The room was soon filled with all the
Changs of my generation. I remember being told that Grandma was very ill. The
candles were lit and then led by Agnes, we all started praying. We went through
the rosary, the beatitudes, etc. I could hear softly spoken murmurs coming from
the next room. Then it was either Father Ko or Father Vendagen (before he became
a bishop) who came to administer the last rites. It is all much of a haze now
except for the murmuring of 'God bless us' repeatedly. The morning as sunlight breaks over the
horizon - it was announced that all was well and Grand Mother had pulled
through.
